Lena Hall is putting her packer away! The Hedwig and the Angry Inch Tony winner will play her final performance as Yitzhak on April 4. Her replacement will be announced soon.
Hall has co-starred with all four actors who have played Hedwig on Broadway: Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall and current Hedwig and show co-creator John Cameron Mitchell. Her other theater credits include Kinky Boots, The Toxic Avenger, Tarzan, Dracula, 42nd Street, Cats, Bedbugs and Green Eyes. On screen Hall has been seen in Sex and the City, The Stepford Wives, The Graduates, All My Children and Legally Blonde, the Search for the Next Elle Woods.
Written by Mitchell and directed by Michael Mayer, Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of a fictional rock ‘n’ roll band, fronted by Hedwig, a transgender woman from communist East Berlin. Between rock songs, Hedwig regales the audience with both humorous and painful stories about her life, including her botched sex change operation. The score by Stephen Trask features “Tear Me Down,” “Wig in a Box,” “Wicked Little Town,” "The Origin of Love," “Angry Inch” and more.
As previously announced Mitchell will play his final performance as Hedwig on April 26 and Darren Criss will step into his heels on April 29 for a 12-week engagement.
